10 picture tour

This is the bulletin board next to my desk.

The note that my daughter left for me when she came to visit during conferences.

The clock I watch so I know when the bell is going to ring.

My EO's and the daily objective and my weekly homework.

My class is all set up for conferences and our "Life on the Manor" activities

My 3 kidneys force me to spend  time in here! Luckily it is right across the hall. It's bad to hold it in!!

Purple lockers. I tease the kids that Mission has full-size lockers.

Our team name and this is at the entrance to our team hallway.

Front desk, its a fun place to visit.

The entrance of the school, looks just like it did when I went here in 1981-1984.

School placard with the newest logo. We had a crossed-legged warrior.

Commons area-this is where my old locker used to be! (Right next to my future husband's locker)

This where I spend the most time! See all those graded and sorted papers...Lesson plans, notebook to reorganize and one of my daily Cokes.

Week one post

My name is Lori Ballinger. I work as a 7th grade teacher at Logan Fontenelle Middle School, the same school where I spent my Junior High years. I am from a military family and we were stationed here when I was in 7th grade and they ended up retiring here. I married my high school sweetheart and we live here in B-Town. We have two kids, Tommy-15, a sophomore at Bellevue East and Colleen-12 a 7th grader at Mission Middle. I went to UNL for my first degree and Peru State for the next two. I am returning to Peruthis month to add a 7-12 endorsement to my certificate.

My experience with technology has been a mixed bag. I hold a certificate in Instructional Technology (From Peru State) but my enthusiasm to add technology in the classroom hit the skids with the lack of ability to get technology at my school. I know it is not an easy fix, but it was frustratig not to be abe to use what I knew how to use. I would LOVE to see laptops available in every room so we could use all the blogging, edmodo, podcasting, etc. tools that are available. I just need a class set...As for Mac or PC-I really do not care. I can use both. Heck, I am so old I learned on a Tandy, Use DOS programs, use a Baby Mac in my first real job, and use PC right now. As long as I have Windows-its all cool. I'm pretty good at teaching myself programs if I have enough time to figure it out-under pressure its a whole new ballgame, I will get really frustrated, very quickly.
