My name is Lori Ballinger. I work as a 7th grade teacher at Logan Fontenelle Middle School, the same school where I spent my Junior High years. I am from a military family and we were stationed here when I was in 7th grade and they ended up retiring here. I married my high school sweetheart and we live here in B-Town. We have two kids, Tommy-15, a sophomore at Bellevue East and Colleen-12 a 7th grader at Mission Middle. I went to UNL for my first degree and Peru State for the next two. I am returning to Peruthis month to add a 7-12 endorsement to my certificate.
My experience with technology has been a mixed bag. I hold a certificate in Instructional Technology (From Peru State) but my enthusiasm to add technology in the classroom hit the skids with the lack of ability to get technology at my school. I know it is not an easy fix, but it was frustratig not to be abe to use what I knew how to use. I would LOVE to see laptops available in every room so we could use all the blogging, edmodo, podcasting, etc. tools that are available. I just need a class set...As for Mac or PC-I really do not care. I can use both. Heck, I am so old I learned on a Tandy, Use DOS programs, use a Baby Mac in my first real job, and use PC right now. As long as I have Windows-its all cool. I'm pretty good at teaching myself programs if I have enough time to figure it out-under pressure its a whole new ballgame, I will get really frustrated, very quickly.
